Introducing Bullhorn for Email

Bullhorn Mail began in a league of its own when introduced in 2002. Providing users the ability to take actions (adding notes, parsing attachments, etc.) directly from the inbox made handing email as frictionless as possible.

It goes without saying the web has changed dramatically in the past decade. Google’s Gmail and Microsoft’s Outlook now rule the email experience for both consumers and enterprises alike.

At Bullhorn we’re committed to building the right tools to make your job easier. So when the two biggest email providers announced new levels of integrations with their products, we had to do something to keep you ahead of the curve.

Tomorrow at Bullhorn Live we’ll be announcing Bullhorn for Email: A complete Bullhorn integration with Gmail and Outlook. It’s the fastest and easiest way to take actions on emails in your favorite modern clients.

CEO Art Papas will be debuting the new integration Tuesday morning (8:30 am) during his Bullhorn Live keynote at the Renaissance Boston Waterfront Hotel.

Check back here on the blog and on Twitter @BullhornProduct this week during Bullhorn Live for more details.

First Look: Job Lists & Search Beta

Our journey to cross-browser freedom began on the path most heavily traveled: Lists and Search.

For many Bullhorn users, this is where your workflow begins. Whether it’s a list of a department’s open jobs or candidates with java skills, there’s never been a better way to own your lists:

  • It’s all about you: You define how the columns are ordered, sorted, filtered, sized, and saved.
  • Work faster: The new preview Slideout (shown above) displays the essentials while allowing you to scroll down the list — infinitely.
  • The most powerful search, ever: Get granular on everything (below):

We’re currently in a private beta on the Job List/Search views. Check back for updates as we keep the window to the product kitchen open.

It’s Live: Bullhorn’s new UI

We are excited to announce that the new UI is now released to all our customers! We hope you enjoy using it, and look forward to your feedback.

Keep updated with new Bullhorn products by following @BullhornProduct on Twitter, too.

Update: Bullhorn’s new UI release

On January 17, we pushed out a scheduled limited release of the new UI to some customers.

Some users accessing the Bullhorn application via Internet Explorer 8 on Windows XP machines experienced slow performance. We have since made changes causing performance to improve for affected users.

The rollout of the new UI to all remaining customers has been moved from the original date of January 24 to February 2, to allow for our technical teams to continue to monitor performance and behavior in the IE8 and Windows XP environment.

We’re looking forward to sharing the new UI with all of you this weekend!

Bullhorn’s new UI – frequently asked questions

Last week the Bullhorn product team conducted a webinar to help customers understand what the new UI release in January entails. The webinar was very well attended, by over 300 participants – thank you for your interest and questions. Following are the top five questions that were asked during the Q&A section:

Is there any functionality change with the new UI?

The functional changes are very few. Fields that are currently set up in your configuration as Dropdowns, Mini pickers and Select will now have search and autocomplete features – making selections easier. All other changes are purely cosmetic: a better look and feel via changes to fonts, color schemes and icons.

When is the change happening? Will I be notified?

Some customers will see the new UI January 17 (late night US Eastern), others will see them January 24 February 2 (late night US Eastern) 2013. Bullhorn support will send out reminder communications early January. Your account or support contacts should keep a lookout for emails from support.

Is there any documentation available for me to refer to?

A powerpoint slide deck containing screenshots and details of the new UI will be available on the Resource December 21, 2012. Additionally, a pre-recorded training video will be available on the Resource Center on January 4, 2013.

What happens if I am unable to move from IE8 to IE9 before the new UI is release?

The new UI is fully supported in IE8. Bullhorn is encouraging customers to upgrade their browsers to IE9 to be able to take advantage of future planned releases in the spring and summer that require IE9.

Will the new UI work on a Mac? What about other browsers or tablets?

We are working hard to make Bullhorn a cross platform and cross browser application. Our goal is for customers to be able to use Bullhorn on Chrome, Safari, Firefox and IE on Windows, Mac by the end of 2013.

Until such time, Bullhorn will continue to work only in IE. Thus, the new UI in January will work only in IE.

Have a RESTful season

According to programmableweb, there is an “earnest movement” in the enterprise around API adoption. Bullhorn has been at the forefront of this movement, by providing APIs since 2003, allowing developers to write applications that integrate with Bullhorn.

Within the past 3 years, Bullhorn’s SOAP APIs have enabled the Bullhorn Marketplace to flourish with more than 35 applications that integrate with and extend the Bullhorn Platform.

Today, we are bringing our customers and partners some holiday cheer with the release of Bullhorn REST API.

RESTful APIs offer developers the ability to create applications quickly using web and mobile development platforms of their choice.

Bullhorn’s engineering team eats its own dogfood, by relying on REST API to enhance Bullhorn and build new applications. Bullhorn Mobile is a prime example. REST API provide the foundation for all development that will make Bullhorn a cross platform & cross browser application by the end of 2013.

Bullhorn in 2013

There’s a perception that the new year brings a clean slate and new beginnings.

That one night at midnight (… 4! 3! 2! 1!) the largest digit on the calendar flips over like a medium rare cheeseburger dripping of optimism, ready to be devoured by those starving for change.

This year, Bullhorn turns 14.

Any tech company that reaches its teenage years has surely seen major changes in, well, everything they do. In 1999 we had AOL and 56k modems. Today we have iPads with 4G data coverage. It’s been the most innovative period in history by any measure or imagination.

To compete in this global economy in 2013, your data must be accessible anytime from anywhere. That’s nothing new to our users: Bullhorn has always been on the forefront of cloud computing.

In 2013, and in spirit of new beginnings, we will deliver what you want most: The ability to use the browser of your choice.

Yes, by the end of 2013 you’ll be able to use Bullhorn on Chrome, Safari, Firefox and IE on Windows and Macs.
