Marshall McAdam was founded in 2009 as a boutique finance and technology recruiter. With offices in Sydney and Melbourne, the company offers strategic recruitment advice to employers seeking permanent, contract and interim talent.

Bullhorn caught up with Lucinda Ridd, Operations Manager of Marshall McAdam, to explore how partnering with the world’s leading recruitment software has contributed to its success.

The Challenge

While Marshall McAdam has been using Bullhorn since its inception, when deciding on which system was right for the business, it had clear requirements. It was looking for something that would grow and evolve with the company and could be fully – and easily – customised. The fact that Bullhorn not only appeared to meet this criteria but was also ‘an established US-backed business’ was a big plus. The company did consider other options, however, decided Bullhorn was the best option for the business as – unlike other providers – it offered a comprehensive ATS which was a crucial requirement for Marshall McAdam. Consequently the business quickly decided that Bullhorn was the best option for the newly launched entity.

The Solution

In the eight years Marshall McAdam has been using Bullhorn it has been particularly impressed with how easy onboarding new users has been. And Lucinda attributes this to the ‘intuitive, logical and easy to navigate’ nature of the system which means adoption is very quick. In fact Lucinda believes that the success of any ATS system ‘comes down to getting people onboarded quickly’ and she hasn’t been disappointed with Bullhorn’s ability to do this seamlessly. Lucinda also noted that being able to customise Bullhorn themselves rather than having to ‘rely on an outsourced provider or pay for it to be done’ has meant that changes to incorporate the company’s own terminology and other preferences can be done by anyone and at any time.

The Marshall McAdam team has also been very impressed with Bullhorn – new starters ‘love it because they are able to pick it up so quickly’ and, because it is an evolving platform, employees frequently discover new functions and tools through exploring the system more deeply – often something small and simple -that make their jobs so much easier.

One of the other advantages of Bullhorn is the support Marshall McAdam receives. Lucinda has been particularly impressed with the ‘honest and open approach’ taken by her account manager about what will and won’t work for the business, as well as providing updates on new products and marketplace integrations. In fact, by having this open dialogue, the company has  most recently integrated online workforce compliance platform WorkPro, a Bullhorn Marketplace Partner, negating the need to use it in isolation. There is a clear appetite from Marshall McAdam to integrate software with Bullhorn wherever possible and these clear lines of communication enable this to happen. Lucinda has also benefited from a month’s dedicated support via the Customer Success Program which was hugely beneficial to ‘overcome any technical gripes and queries the team had’ – something that she would be very keen to take part in again soon.

The Future

Marshall McAdam has already taken advantage of several of Bullhorn’s marketplace integrations – such as Broadbean, WorkPro and InsightSquared – so it doesn’t have any immediate plans to add to this. However, Lucinda is clear that Marshall McAdam will continue to work closely with the team at Bullhorn to keep abreast of new updates and Marketplace Partners to ensure that they stay at the forefront of new advances and evolve with Bullhorn to meet the needs and requirements of their clients and candidates.
