If your talent isn\u2019t having that top-level experience, said Sachs, the cycle won\u2019t continue through the referral and redeployment process.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cMost companies I speak to are so focused on filling the open reqs they have right now that they\u2019re not running a parallel path of building this engine,\u201d added Krier, \u201cand they really need to do both.\u201d Companies need to focus on the here and now while thinking more broadly about the candidate experience and fine-tuning it along the way. Otherwise, they\u2019ll be stuck trying to fill in the top of the pipeline again and again. \u201cIt\u2019s hard to dedicate the resources,\u201d she said, \u201cbut that\u2019s what companies will have to start doing.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<h4><b><i>\u201cYou\u2019ve spent all this time and money on finding these candidates. Why are you not mining this database that\u2019s so full of gold?\u201d \u2013 <\/i>Michelle Krier<\/b><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cFor the longest time, recruitment was considered to be like a production line,\u201d added Sachs. \u201cThat just doesn\u2019t work these days.\u201d The market is more sophisticated, and talent wants personalised content and messaging. Building a talent community, she said, is critical.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>Why nurture?<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">As part of Bullhorn\u2019s Global Recruitment Insights &amp; Data (GRID) Trends Report, we surveyed over 2,000 global temp workers on their recruitment experiences. The numbers speak for themselves:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><b>36%<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> say their recruiter didn\u2019t reach out about future opportunities before their assignment end date<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><b>1 out of 3<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> say responsiveness declined once an assignment began<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><b>1 out of 3<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> say their recruiter wasn\u2019t proactive about opportunities when one fell through<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><b>3 out of 5<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> candidates want recruiters to reach out at least once a week with opportunities<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">There\u2019s a long way to go within the industry when it comes to nurturing candidate relationships. But by focusing on this stage, agencies have an opportunity to flip the script, boost their referrals and redeployment, and bring talent back into the recruitment lifecycle again and again.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>What does it mean to nurture talent?<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The last phase of the Connected Recruiting lifecycle is about building a generative relationship with talent. A few key touchpoints include:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Surveys, ratings, and reviews<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Reskilling\/upskilling<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Campaigns<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Redeployment<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Engagement\/advocacy<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Employee support<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Data refinement<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Self-service enablement<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Personalised outreach<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Getting started on just a few of these touchpoints can have an impact. \u201cSurveys, ratings, and testimonials are underutilised across the industry,\u201d said Sachs, \u201cbut they\u2019re crazy powerful.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>The power of talent community<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">When it comes to showcasing your brand, agencies have a powerful asset that they may not be aware of: their contractors already out on assignment. \u201cHow are you leveraging those people you have already placed from a referral perspective?\u201d asked Sachs. \u201cThose people are an extension of you and your brand.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cI think the biggest thing we can do is ask people,\u201d added Krier. \u201cYou\u2019ve got all these people out on assignment, and you\u2019d love for them to carry your brand forward in the marketplace. Have a conversation, survey them, and see what they think and how they can help you.\u201d Once those conversations have started, said Krier, it\u2019s just as essential to use those insights to influence your strategy moving forward.<\/span><\/p>\n<h4><b><i>\u201cPeople buy from people \u2013 so use your collective people to showcase your brand.\u201d <\/i>\u2013 Karissa Sachs<\/b><\/h4>\n<h3><b>Content that converts<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Leveraging engaging, relevant content is crucial to effective talent nurturing \u2013 but our panelists noted that it takes a lot of work. Even so, it\u2019s worth the effort, resources, and buy-in to build that content and use it to market effectively to your candidates. Said Sachs, \u201cThis is where recruitment is going.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cThat generic content just isn\u2019t going to cut it,\u201d added Krier. Less isn\u2019t always more, she advised, and content should be providing something of value to your talent community. \u201cSpend time getting into the weeds of what your candidates want to hear about, and then create tailored pieces of content to reach those audiences.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>The challenges of redeployment<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Redeployment is a key focus of the nurture phase, but there are so many variables that it comes with its own unique hurdles. \u201cYou could have a five-hour long webinar on redeployment,\u201d said Sachs. \u201cBut it all starts with the end date. The end date is never 100%.\u201d Due to the chances of an end date extending, there\u2019s a fluidity there, Sachs said. Of course, you never want to pull a candidate from a client, but letting clients know that candidates are likely to be redeployed and setting that expectation can help. \u201cYou can only market a candidate once they have a definitive end date, so it\u2019s hard,\u201d she added.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>Reviews vs. Net promoter score<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Before working with agencies, just as they would before using a product, candidates will likely go to Google. Krier noted that reviews on sites like Google or Glassdoor are important but underutilised. \u201cCompanies have not taken advantage of the power of this area to showcase why candidates want to work with you rather than with someone else,\u201d she said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">When candidates Google your company, Sachs added, guess what you see? \u201cRight in front of you, front and center, you\u2019ve got your Google reviews.\u201d These reviews are among candidates&#8217; first interactions with your agency, right from the very first organic search.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Net promoter scores are another way of promoting your brand, but there\u2019s also good data in those results, Krier said.
