{"id":78173,"date":"2024-11-13T10:30:36","date_gmt":"2024-11-12T23:30:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.bullhorn.com\/au\/?p=78173"},"modified":"2025-07-03T17:27:29","modified_gmt":"2025-07-03T07:27:29","slug":"ai-recruitment-insights-from-salesforce-leaders","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bullhorn.com\/au\/blog\/ai-recruitment-insights-from-salesforce-leaders\/","title":{"rendered":"AI in recruitment: Insights from Salesforce leaders"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There\u2019s no denying it, the role of AI has taken centre stage in many industries including recruitment.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>In a fireside chat at the Tech at the Tower hosted by Bullhorn, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.salesforce.com\/au\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Salesforce<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.2cloudnine.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2cloudnine<\/a> in Sydney, experts shared their insights on how AI is being used in recruitment today, impacts on the candidate experience, the current regulatory landscape and the next big advancements in AI.<\/p>\n<p>Hosted by Matt Webster, Regional Vice President APAC &amp; Global Enterprise at Bullhorn, the panellists featured:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Jonathan Hatcher, VP, AI Solution Engineering Lead, Salesforce<\/li>\n<li>Jordan Purdie, Head of Recruitment APAC, Salesforce<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Read on for the five main takeaways from the AI and recruitment experts.<\/p>\n<h4><strong>1. AI and human potential in recruitment<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>AI\u2019s ability to execute on repetitive tasks is giving recruiters extra time to focus on the more intricate aspects of their work and build better relationships. Jonathan noted that with each significant technological advancement in the past, \u201chuman work massively changed.\u201d The prevalence of AI today is a sign this shift is happening again.<\/p>\n<p>According to Jonathan, \u201cAI is the biggest thing in tech since the technology revolution 70 years ago. The reason is that it\u2019s the first technology that\u2019s really impacted cognitive work.\u201d Traditional cognitive tasks\u2014like candidate outreach, processing resumes and account management\u2014can now easily be automated. Salesforce\u2019s own platform for AI agent development, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.salesforce.com\/agentforce\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Agentforce<\/a>, provides a toolkit for the creation of \u2018agents\u2019 that handle repetitive work, enabling recruiters to focus on the human side of their role and build relationships with both candidates and clients.<\/p>\n<p>A key benefit of Agentforce is its ability to leverage all the data within a client&#8217;s own Salesforce instance, which allows for much more accurate and impactful automation. Agentforce is also powerful because it can be used by clients, partners like Bullhorn, and Salesforce themselves in order to develop agents. Jonathan shared an example where an agency has used Agentforce to automate job description creation, from within Salesforce, which has enhanced the information recruiters need before meeting with hiring managers or candidates.<\/p>\n<h4>2. Enhance candidate experience with AI<\/h4>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bullhorn.com\/grid\/2024-talent-trends\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">81 percent of candidates<\/a> would be willing to work with AI if it sped up the recruiting process. Jonathan notes, \u201cif you\u2019re providing value to the end consumer, making experience easier and the friction of the process less. I\u2019m not surprised that almost any tech including AI would be of value to a candidate\u201d, he said.<\/p>\n<p>However Jonathan cautioned that not one size fits all when it comes to automation and AI. Entry-level applicants may prefer the speed and convenience of AI-driven process but senior candidates often value a more personalised approach. Recruitment agencies need to consider a curated approach based on their own strengths and unique value proposition.<\/p>\n<h4>3. Leveraging AI to Unlock Internal Talent<\/h4>\n<p>Today\u2019s job market is limited so businesses are increasingly looking to maximise the talent they already have internally. At Salesforce, their internal AI-driven recruitment encourages employees to think about \u2018where they can go in their career\u2019 and \u2018what can they do now to set up for success\u2019. AI helps to map and highlight current employee skills. \u201cAI is a fantastic tool to do that as it brings up ideas people didn\u2019t already have or it gives them pathways\u201d, said Jordan. Like Jonathan, he isn\u2019t surprised by candidates\u2019 willingness to work with AI but emphasised the importance of the human element as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bullhorn.com\/grid\/2024-talent-trends\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">candidates don\u2019t want a fully automated process<\/a>. Jordan stated, \u201cthere&#8217;s art and science elements and I think, the art is still very much needed and wanted.\u201d<\/p>\n<h4>4. Regulatory and ethical impacts for AI<\/h4>\n<p>The current use of AI has prompted regulatory action from governments and raised ethical concerns for diversity and inclusion (DEI). As a result, ensuring AI models remain unbiased should become standard practice within any business. \u201cA lot of the concerns are the biases that are built into algorithms, so making sure you have audits and checks is going to become part of day to day\u201d, Jordan said.<\/p>\n<p>Hatchter warns, \u201cAI can scale and amplify biases at a speed that we\u2019ve never seen before. That\u2019s super worrying.\u201d However, as AI remains a tool for us that is built on algorithms, we can \u201ccodify some DEI rules into systems as they scale.\u201d This would ensure the hiring process is fair and ethical.<\/p>\n<h4>5. The Future of AI in Recruitment<\/h4>\n<p>Looking ahead, in the next three to five years, Jonathan predicts the \u201cnext innovation in AI, from a training data perspective, is what&#8217;s called <em>Multimodal AI<\/em>, which is how we give video, audio and other types of input\u201d to AI to process.<\/p>\n<p>Traditionally, large language models like Chat-GPT have been text based only.
