<\/span><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit\">If it is up to the PhD student\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.erim.eur.nl\/research\/news\/detail\/3797-phd-defence-colin-lee\/\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit\">Colin Lee<\/span><\/span><\/a><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit\"> \u00a0, it will soon be a little easier for recruiters. <\/span><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit\">Lee received his PhD from the Rotterdam School of Management at Erasmus University in Rotterdam with a unique algorithm for recruiting. <\/span><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit\">Based on the CV, he can predict with 81 percent certainty which applicants the recruiters will invite to an interview.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit\">examination<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit\">The research is unique because Lee&#8217;s algorithm scrutinized over 440,000 real digital resumes and applications, and actually had them reviewed by professional recruiters. <\/span><\/span><!--more--><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit\">Lee used the recruitment data, which made a large number of Connexy&#8217;s customers available to him. <\/span><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit\">The computer model takes into account various variables, such as work experience, age, distance to the place of work and level of education. <\/span><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit\">The software also checks factors such as &#8218;did the applicant apply in time?&#8216; <\/span><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit\">and &#8218;Does the applicant already work for this employer?&#8216;<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit\">intuition<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit\">If recruiters only use the resume, the algorithm predicts the selection of experts with 81 percent reliability. <\/span><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit\">If the recruiters also take the letter of motivation into account, the forecasting accuracy drops to 69 percent. <\/span><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit\">There also seems to be a difference between what recruiters claim and what they actually do. <\/span><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit\">&#8222;Recruiters sometimes seem to choose based on intuition, but there is a common thread,&#8220; Lee says. <\/span><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit\">Unfortunately, the data regarding the motivation letter could not be included in the investigation due to data protection reasons.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit\">Pre-selection<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit\">Big data is already used to a greater or lesser extent by employers and employment agencies who process large amounts of resumes. <\/span><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit\">Intelligent tools in the\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><a title=\"Recruiting system\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bullhorn.com\/de\/connexys-recruiting-software\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit\">ATS<\/span><\/span><\/a><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit\"> \u00a0(applicant management system) are used to filter applicant data in order to create an initial assessment. <\/span><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit\">It&#8217;s about data from internal databases, but it&#8217;s also looking for public data on social media. <\/span><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit\">&#8222;Lee&#8217;s algorithm can be a nice addition,&#8220; said Jan van Goch, <\/span><\/span><span><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit\">Vice President Marketing EMEA at Bullhorn<\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit\"> .<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit\">Predict future performance<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit\">Researchers expect that the use of big data on the job market will become even more valuable in the future. <\/span><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit\">&#8222;You can measure the performance of applicants who have been accepted and add them to the algorithm.
