Over 1,000 senior PR professionals from around the world took part in the survey, which was designed to assess the state of the industry over the next five years. <\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">First and foremost, the agency business will grow from $14 billion to $19.3 billion, with a subsequent estimated increase in headcount of about 26%. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">In accordance with this, all respondents feel their jobs will become more <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/annenberg.usc.edu\/sites\/default\/files\/USC_REPORT_New.pdf\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201ccomplex, challenging, and strategic,\u201d<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> with a shocking 27% believing that their role will not be adequately describing using the term \u201cpublic relations\u201d in five years\u2019 time. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>What &nbsp;Will Change? <\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">As stated in numerous \u201c2016 prediction\u201d <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.forbes.com\/forbes\/welcome\/#62c7ae4a1b6b\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">blog posts,<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> one of the major drivers of public relations will be content creation and amplification. 81% of agency leaders questioned in the report expect that PR professionals will need to deliver \u201c<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.holmesreport.com\/research\/article\/global-communications-report-reveals-scale-of-change-disrupting-pr-industry\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">more content<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201d across \u201c<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.holmesreport.com\/research\/article\/global-communications-report-reveals-scale-of-change-disrupting-pr-industry\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">more channels<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201d with \u201c<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.holmesreport.com\/research\/article\/global-communications-report-reveals-scale-of-change-disrupting-pr-industry\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">more creativity<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201d over the next five years.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>3 Ways to Stay Ahead of the Game <\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">As mentioned in a <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bullhorn.com\/eu\/blog\/2016\/02\/print-dead-content-still-king\/?LS=Website&amp;LSD=Blog_UK_16_04_26\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">previous blog:<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> you should <\/span>provide valuable, educational, and engaging content<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">. PR relationships are built on trust in the form of long-term relationships. <\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Utilise <\/span>backlinks<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">. Again, as mentioned in a <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bullhorn.com\/eu\/blog\/2016\/04\/google-ranking-signals-pr-and-marketing\/?LS=Website&amp;LSD=Blog_UK_16_04_26\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">previous blog post<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, you should not rely on personally driving content towards your own website. <\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Establish <\/span>thought leadership<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">. Build credibility, influence, a unique perspective, and charisma. <\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>The Bad News <\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">As Fred Cook, Director of the USC Center for Public Relations, <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/annenberg.usc.edu\/sites\/default\/files\/USC_REPORT_New.pdf\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">states,<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> \u201cIf content creation is the engine for growth, the industry will need to invest in people who can develop world-class creative.\u201d<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Accordingly, the greatest challenges for PR professionals over the next five years will be to recruit <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">and<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> retain employees that can provide said content.
