{"id":4485,"date":"2015-04-23T11:46:04","date_gmt":"2015-04-23T15:46:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.bullhorn.com\/eu\/?p=4485"},"modified":"2015-04-29T03:53:50","modified_gmt":"2015-04-29T07:53:50","slug":"love-your-recruitment-crm","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bullhorn.com\/eu\/blog\/love-your-recruitment-crm\/","title":{"rendered":"Love your Recruitment CRM &#8211; Stepping Beyond Social Recruiting"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\">By Lisa Jones, Director of Barclay Jones<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">My mantra for recruiters in 2015 is \u2018Love your Recruitment CRM\u2019, but why?<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>2012 to 2014 was about social media in recruitment \u2013 everyone went crazy for it. \u00a0I think, however, that 2015, is the year of <a title=\"Bullhorn's Recruitment CRM product page\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bullhorn.com\/eu\/products\/recruitment-crm\/\" target=\"_blank\">Recruitment CRM<\/a>.\u00a0Yes, social recruiting is still on the agenda of most recruitment leaders, but social media is also still classed as suspicious technology by many. \u00a0You need to do lots of it to gain traction and the people running the business never needed it in their day \u2013 hence it\u2019s the thing that every recruiter is doing, can often not measure, and few recruitment leaders take seriously.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\"><b>Recruitment Software and the Recession<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p>CRM has been a little on the back burner in recent years. This is what I have seen over the last 15 years, being placed right <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bullhorn.com\/eu\/products\/recruitment-crm\/\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-4500 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bullhorn.com\/eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/21\/2015\/04\/bullhorn-recruitment-crm-e1429703992819.jpg\" alt=\"love your recruitment crm\" width=\"300\" height=\"203\" \/><\/a>in the middle of some substantial recruitment businesses, right before, during and after the recession.\u00a0Pre-2008 recruitment tech that I came across wasn\u2019t great! And even if it was any good it was really poorly used; we didn\u2019t really \u201cneed\u201d it. \u00a0Our talent needed us more than we needed them, and the same could be said for our clients. \u00a0We had more control over our markets. \u00a0Our markets were smaller \u2013 global and international recruitment was often by accident, not design. \u00a0Our competitors were obvious and easy to dismiss.\u00a0LinkedIn entered our lives in 2003 then Facebook and Twitter came along during the dark years of recession and still we watched from the side lines. I moved from being an IT Director in Recruitment, to running my own Recruitment Tech consultancy in 2008 and watched as social recruiting became something that recruiters became rabid dogs for, as did their own clients.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\"><b>Recruitment Technology pre-2008<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The Recruitment CRM purchased pre-2008 was still sat on the server of the recruiter and was often pretty ineffective. \u00a0The data was old, messy and hard to find. The role of the Recruitment CRM deteriorated even more during the recession as workflows went in the bin and the 30 second placement model dominated. \u00a0In other words, \u201cGet it on the system, I need to send an invoice\u201d.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\"><b>Recruitment Technology Post-Recession<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Social media becomes the new black. \u00a0Data, big data (lots of data!) becomes the need of every recruiter. \u00a0Jobs are spammed, not posted or pitched. \u00a0Clients buy the tech that every recruiter either has or wants and candidates can apply for jobs sat on the toilet in a onesie &#8211; imagine that!\u00a0Recruitment CRM became the mad aunt at Christmas. \u00a0The parents (recruitment leaders) invite her as it\u2019s the right thing to do. \u00a0The kids (recruiters) talk to her because they have been told to \u2013 no-one takes her seriously \u2013 she talks out of context and offers no value.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\"><b>Falling in Love with Recruitment Software?<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Then last year I noticed a slight shift. \u00a0I saw more and more recruitment leaders lifting their \u00a0heads, opening their wallets \u00a0and planning their business strategies. \u00a0PHEW! \u00a0They\u2019re back in the room! \u00a0And so is recruitment software\u2026 Why, because social media has levelled the playing field. \u00a0However, this has created a new problem. Clients, recruiters and candidates are all competing with each other, using the same tech with access to the same data. Yes, recruiters can claim that their processes are unique, but who really cares? In essence its first past the post and everyone seems to have the same (very fast) car.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\"><b>Do You Love Your Recruitment CRM?<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Recruitment CRM is potentially the only USP the average recruiter has and that\u2019s why I think that this should be the year of the CRM and why you should give your CRM unconditional love.<\/p>\n<p>If you have the data (the candidate) you have the market. I don\u2019t mean you should have 350,000,000 \u201ccandidates\u201d on your database like LinkedIn \u2013 I mean you may only have 1% or only a 10th of that. \u00a0You need quality data \u2013 valuable and useful data. You simply need \u201cenough\u201d teachers, engineers, doctors, IT sales specialists, hr professionals and so on. \u00a0You need a great process to keep them happy, and a fabulous content plan (and I include adverts in that plan) to engage active and passive talent.
