Next, expand the Candidate entity and choose the Employee Type field<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Click on the field name, \u2018Employee Type\u2019<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Change Edit type &gt; from mini picker to <\/span><b>drop-down<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Change \u2018Allow Multiple Values\u2019 to <\/span><b>No<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Value List &gt; add another value (i.e, H1B)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Click save<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Please note, changing a field mapping will not change the value that is already present on that field in an existing record.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Now, when you search for a candidate record, you\u2019ll see your new Employee Type field. Make sure you refresh your page in order to see your update.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3>Adding a Brand New Field<\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><center><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/tE6qwTAzUcc?start=317\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/center><center><\/center><center><\/center><center><\/center>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">5:17: You may want to add a new field to your Bullhorn database. In this example, we\u2019re going to add a secondary contact to your job or vacancy record since you frequently interact with someone other than the original ordering source.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Again, navigate to Field Mappings through your menu. Now, expand your master Job track. First, double-check that the field you want to create doesn\u2019t already exist by searching for the field in the Label column header (it may be hidden from view). If the field doesn\u2019t exist, you can proceed with creating the new field. Clear your filters and search on the Field column header to find an unused customText field. Note: You should always use the custom field with the highest number first, and work your way down. There are a limited number of custom fields and the lower the number, the closer you are to running out of custom fields.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Click on the blue hyperlinked name of the field<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Under Display, enter <\/span><b>Secondary Contact<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Under Edit Type, select <\/span><b>Picker:Text:Client<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h4><\/h4>\n<h4>Understanding Field Edit Types<\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You\u2019ll notice from the dropdown list, a text field has the most edit types. When deciding on an edit type, it\u2019s important to think about how you\u2019ll use this field. Some of the most common edit types include:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><b>Text: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Can enter anything; it\u2019s a free text field<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><b>Drop Down: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Best for a single selection when you want to force a value from a list<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><b>Mini Picker: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Should\u00a0 not use if you want to report on this field because it allows users to add their own values<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><b>Select: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Best for multi-selection\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><b>Radio: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Don\u2019t use this field if you want to report on it as it always defaults to the first value<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><b>Picker<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: Allows for a lookup into those values in your database<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To learn more, explore our help article, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/help.bullhorn.com\/bhatsTopics\/s\/article\/Understanding-Bullhorn-Field-Edit-Types-1263800583?LS=Website&amp;LSD=CustomerBlog_UK&amp;LA=CustomerBlog_UK_20_10_22&amp;LAD=CustomerBlog_UK_20_10_22_webinar_breakdown_field_mappings&amp;utm_source=customerblog_uk&amp;utm_medium=website&amp;utm_campaign=customerblog_uk_20_10_22_webinar_breakdown_field_mappings\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Understanding Field Edit Types.<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<h4><\/h4>\n<h4>Displaying Your Custom Field<\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Next, we\u2019ll edit our Required field (since not all clients will have secondary contacts).<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Set Required to <\/span><b>\u2018No<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">,\u2019 since not all clients will have secondary contacts<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Change Hidden from \u2018Yes\u2019 to <\/span><b>\u2018No\u2019 <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">to make the field visible to users<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Leave Allow Multiple Values as <\/span><b>\u2018Single\u2019 <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(because you\u2019ve created a picker list)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Change Sort Order to <\/span><b>\u2018100\u2019\u00a0<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sort Order is where the value displays in comparison to other fields. In this example, we\u2019d like this Secondary Contact field to display just below the Primary Contact field and before the Open\/Closed field. You can search for those fields in your job Entity to see what their Sort Order is. If your Primary Contact field\u2019s Sort Order is 90 and your Open\/Closed field\u2019s Sort Order is 110, setting your Secondary Contact field\u2019s Sort Order to 100 will place it between those two fields.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Click <strong>Save<\/strong> or <strong>Submit<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Adding customText Fields to Job Tracks<\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">14:32: It\u2019s important to note that if you use job tracks and you want to include this field on each job track, you\u2019ll need to add the field to the Job entities using the same customText field.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">First, click on your Job Track in your Field Maps menu and search for the exact same custom field that you used to create your new field. You\u2019ll go through the same process as above:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Click on the blue hyperlinked name of the field<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Under Display, enter <\/span><b>Secondary Contact<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Under Edit Type, select <\/span><b>Picker:Text:Client<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Set Required to <\/span><b>\u2018No<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">,\u2019 since not all clients will have secondary contacts<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Change Hidden from \u2018Yes\u2019 to <\/span><b>\u2018No\u2019 <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">to make the field visible to users<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Leave Allow Multiple Values as <\/span><b>\u2018Single\u2019 <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(because you\u2019ve created a picker list)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Change Sort Order to \u2018100\u2019\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Click <\/span><b>Save <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">or <\/span><b>Submit<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Now, refresh your screen and reload the page to see the new Secondary Contact field on your job track.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3>Field Mappings Tips and Tricks<\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><center><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/tE6qwTAzUcc?start=1059\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/center><\/p>\n<h4><\/h4>\n<h4>Creating Custom Correlated Fields<\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">17:39: You can use custom correlated fields when you need custom information to flow from a Job to a Placement. The field must be populated on the Job before adding a Placement. If the field is filled in after a placement is created, the information will not carry over. In this example, we want to track a client\u2019s purchase order # for a particular opening:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In Field Mappings, expand the <\/span><b>Job<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> entity and search on the keyword \u2018correlated\u2019 in the Field column header<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Select the customText field with the highest number<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Fill out the details in the Field Map window the same as you did in the earlier example<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Click Save<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Expand the <\/span><b>Placement <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">entity and follow the same steps to create the field there<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You must use the same correlated custom field number you chose when adding the field to the Job.\u00a0 And remember, if your company uses multiple Job and Placement tracks, you\u2019ll need to repeat these steps on each track.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4>Repurposing Existing Fields<\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">20:43: It\u2019s a great idea to repurpose existing fields (those that don\u2019t begin with \u2018custom\u2019) and change it to something else. For example, if you search on \u2018Education,\u2019 in the Field Maps menu, you\u2019ll see that there\u2019s an existing Education Level field. You wouldn\u2019t want to change that field to a Marital Status field because Bullhorn often has coding behind the scenes which can cause errors, and these fields feed into reporting to ensure accurate data.
