What to Do While You’re in London for Engage

Bullhorn Engage London

London, the UK’s capital city, is not only a buzzing hub for industry and business, but it’s also steeped with history and bursting at the seams with exciting and eclectic culture. While Engage London won’t leave you wanting for great industry-related activities – exciting speakers, fantastic networking opportunities, and invaluable recruitment insights, to name but a few – you may find yourself keen to explore some more of London either before or after the conference. Here are some of our top recommendations, all of which are easily accessible from the Hilton Metropole Hotel.

Hyde Park: With uncharacteristically good Autumn weather on the horizon, take a stroll through London’s famous Hyde Park – a 10-minute walk from the Hilton Metropole Hotel. The largest of four Royal Parks, the park offers something for everyone: from ornamental flower gardens, to cycling, lakeside restaurants, the Diana Memorial Fountain, and even open-air events. Bonus! The 19th century Carrara Italian marble monument, Marble Arch, is situated on the north-eastern corner of Hyde Park.

Sherlock Holmes Museum: Arguably one of the world’s most widely recognised addresses, you can visit the home of none other than the world-renown private detective, Sherlock Holmes. This privately run museum is dedicated to Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s fictional character and immerses visitors in exhibits and scenes from different adaptations of Sherlock Holmes.

Little Venice: This tranquil London neighbourhood is only 15 minutes from Engage in Mayfair, and is home to picturesque canals, quaint houseboats, boat rides, and even puppet shows. You can take an Instagram-worthy stroll beside the river, and stop in one of the many fantastic floating cafes or traditional British pubs for a drink or two whilst you enjoy some wildlife spotting.

Oxford Street: One of London’s most legendary streets if you’re interested in a spot of shopping, and easily reached from the Hilton with a 15 min journey on the underground. From high-street names to premium brands, you’ll be spoilt for choice on Oxford Street.

Bond Street: If high-end shopping (or maybe even window shopping) is more your cup of tea, then head over to Bond Street. From Chanel, to Louis Vuitton, you can get your designer fix just an eight-minute walk from Oxford Street.

However, you’re not limited to visiting attractions only within walking distance as the Hilton is but a stone’s throw from Edgware Road station.  You can use the Circle, District, and Hammersmith and City lines to reach other London landmarks such as St James’s Park, Buckingham Palace, Tate Modern, London Eye, Tower Bridge, St. Paul’s, and much much more.

If you haven’t had a chance to already, why not check out the Engage London agenda and see what’s in store for you over the next few days!
