It’s no news that there’s a massive talent shortage, and it doesn’t look like it’s going to improve any time soon. Finding and retaining talent has never been more important. Recruitment organizations are placing candidate search at the top of their priority list in 2022 according to Bullhorn’s global recruitment trends survey of more than 4,000 recruitment pros worldwide. At the same time, candidates are not always satisfied with their recruitment experience: in another survey we did, 90% of respondents said they wish it would be easier to find a job through a recruitment organization. The majority state that poor communication is the biggest reason for a bad experience.

To capitalize on today’s market, organizations need to build a loyal talent community – a pool of candidates eager to partner with your organization. From order to order. To realize that, you need technology that can support this. A successful candidate engagement strategy – and the right technology to support it – will help meet these four requirements:

  1. Flexibility : the relationship you have built with talents depends on the stage they are in in the recruitment journey. At the beginning, you need to ensure a process that is as smooth as possible so that the candidate immediately experiences how easy it is to collaborate with your organization. Self-service options can play a major role in this. To ensure that documents important to their job search are completed in a timely manner, approach candidates in the way that suits them.
  2. The ability to communicate through different channels: which works better : SMS, WhatsApp, email or push notifications? The answer depends on the candidate’s preferences. Every channel has its pros and cons and there isn’t just one way to leverage them. That’s why you need to make sure that all channels are in your organization’s toolbox.
  3. Automation : If you want to build a loyal community of talents, you have to be in constant contact with them. That takes time, but automation can help – by encouraging constant adoption across all communication channels available to candidates, without taking up valuable recruiters’ time.
  4. Thought leadership : We often see that the relationship between recruiters and candidates is seen as a one-way street. The talents continuously provide information to the agency, but what do they get in return in the recruitment process? Think about what valuable information and content you share with candidates via a talent platform (automation can also play a role in this).
