Engage evolved from a group of labour hire agencies, transforming into a boutique specialist recruitment & labour hire agency in 2015. Today, the agency operates nationally across Australia, supporting diverse industries with a focus on industrial services, waste management, manufacturing, construction and energy.

With a dedicated team and a wealth of industry expertise, Engage prides itself on their deep industry knowledge and long standing client relationships – many of which span over ten years through long term preferred supplier agreements.

The challenge

Engage’s previous recruitment system, while supportive for many years, became increasingly challenging and costly to maintain. The lack of integration and flexibility made it challenging to keep a dispersed recruitment team connected and limited the ability to to effectively engage candidates.

To remain competitive, the team recognised the need for a more connected, modern platform that could streamline communication, support collaboration across multiple locations and provide the tools to engage candidates more effectively.

We started to explore market options when our teams were consistently reporting greater evidence of disconnected and disengaged workforce. We wanted to ensure that we were maintaining contact with our entire workforce. Changing our approach to communication and context, ensuring we’ve got multiple digital methods of access and really coming down to that balance between a cost effective structure and a new age product.

The solution

After a thorough assessment of available recruitment systems, Engage selected Bullhorn as their CRM and ATS. The platform offered a modern, integrated solution capable of automating administrative tasks while improving recruiter efficiency.

“Bullhorn is cost-effective, and the inclusions, so things like automation and onboarding are inbuilt products. They are native to the system a lot more than the other systems developed for us,” said Stinson.

The implementation was a collaborative effort between Bullhorn and their Marketplace partner Kyloe, marked by consistent communication and support from account managers. The system was tailored to Engage’s unique workflows, enabling recruiters to leverage automation, advanced search capabilities, and dashboards. This streamlined candidate management while preserving the integrity of a 17-year-old database. Simultaneously, the platform’s dashboards gave their leadership team clear, real-time visibility into operations, enabling them to make informed, data-driven decisions.

The results

Since adopting Bullhorn, Engage has dramatically cut down on administrative work, freeing recruiters to focus on building relationships and delivering results. Since their ‘go-live’ in March 2025, Engage has automated over 49,000 actions, saving around 1000 hours of recruitment admin time.

“Bullhorn has given us the opportunity to be upfront and competitive. We’re representing our candidates in a similar way to majority of competitors and it’s given us the opportunity to reach candidates quickly, and reduce admin in a tighter market.” said Stinson

With an extensive 17-year-old database, Engage recognised the need for a major data clean-up. Using Bullhorn Automation, the team continues to re-engage inactive and passive candidates, reduce outdated records, and refine the database into a more accurate, manageable resource.

Candidate engagement has improved significantly, with recruiters now connecting with the right people rather than sending mass communications. “The majority of our support, or benefit that I’ve seen at the moment, is we’ve gone mass from non-direct comms to candidates to being able to better search our candidate group and engage with those who are actually relevant,” Stinson explained.

He continued, “At the leadership level, Analytics provides real-time visibility into performance, enabling data-driven decisions and better oversight of the team, and we continue to refine these reports.”

By combining automation with actionable insights, Bullhorn has transformed both the recruiter experience and the agency’s operational effectiveness, bringing Engage a competitive platform in a tight labour market.

The future

Looking ahead, Engage plans to expand its Preferred Supplier Agreements with existing clients and grow its team on the East Coast. Bullhorn will play a key role in supporting this growth by enabling visibility and job sharing across offices, improving automation, and providing insights to guide performance management.
