Procurement recruitment agency Ronin was founded just ahead of the 2007 recession. Given the harsh economic climate that followed, their first clients decided to cast their nets far and wide by moving away from specific vertical industries. Using this approach to their advantage, Ronin quickly expanded beyond the competition. As a result, Ronin has gone from strength-to-strength to offer some of the best procurement jobs for supply chains, logistics, and commercial management all across the UK. Today, Ronin prides itself on its exceptional customer service and its long-term relationships with the leading talent in procurement.
Bullhorn caught up with Mark Badley, Managing Director of Ronin, to explore how their partnership with the world’s leading recruitment software has enabled them to grow and become profitable year-on-year for the past six years.
Ronin explored a number of different platforms, eventually settling for a server-based platform riddled with hidden costs and limited functionality. Additionally, the system lacked remote access and therefore required all work to be done in the office. The team realised that their cost-based decision had left them feeling restricted, so the agency decided to move onto a flexible, cloud-based system, one that had been specifically built for recruitment professionals on-the-go.
Despite having been partnered with a different system for 3 years—one that had “nowhere near the functionality of Bullhorn,” commented Mark, —the agency “didn’t lose the value of what [they] had built up over time” when transferring their data over.
Mark and the team soon realised that Bullhorn is “flexible…, very user-friendly, and intuitive.” Bullhorn offered mobility for a team that was often on-the-go. “Being able to access information via a whole range of different types of hardware, be it tablet, mobile, desktop,” observed Mark, “that’s really really useful.” From day one, Mark noted that the team easily adopted Bullhorn and has “never been critical of the platform in any way.” Despite the team being experienced recruiters, many of Ronin’s consultants had never seen or used Bullhorn before. However, the team found it easy to get up to speed – “it’s all down to how intuitive and user-friendly the platform is,” said Mark.
Bullhorn immediately began to differentiate Ronin from the competition, allowing them to focus on their long-term client relationships and provide exceptional service to clients and candidates alike. Mark specifically credits Bullhorn for the “speed to be able to search and the accuracy of search functionality,” which has had a “big impact” upon his team’s work. After initially starting with one user, the team has expanded to eleven: “we can add licenses and easily expand without any upfront costs.”
Mark also credits “the third party applications from Bullhorn Marketplace” for Ronin’s success. “Bullhorn’s willingness to work with other organisations and make everything work together [is] brilliant,” Mark noted.
Ronin is currently in the process of implementing Bullhorn’s Onboarding tool. Mark is confident this will “give a level of consistency” into how he and his team “manage compliance with various different contractors.” Most importantly, it will make Ronin’s team “more efficient while lowering risk.”
The procurement recruitment agency intends to grow even further over the upcoming years. Mark is certain that Bullhorn is going to be there every step of the way by being “efficient” and giving the Ronin team “the flexibility to work on-the-go.”

As the Vice President of Marketing at Bullhorn, Catherine is responsible for all marketing efforts across the organization. Catherine has been with Bullhorn based in the Boston office since 2010 and has recently relocated to London. Over her tenure, she’s overseen several marketing functions including demand generation, marketing operations, and events. She is passionate about marketing technology, building high-performing teams, and leveraging both to drive for results. Catherine has a Bachelor of Arts in Global Studies from Providence College.

SVP Product, Executive Search
As Bullhorn’s SVP Product, Executive Search, Richard drives the company’s product strategy and initiatives for the executive search sector and the Invenias product. Richard joined Bullhorn as part of the Invenias acquisition in 2018, where he one of the founders and spent 14 years as the Chief Product & Technology Officer and a Board Director.
Richard brings over 25 years of business, technology and product leadership, with broad industry experience that spans the full spectrum of the staffing industry, with specific focus on executive and retained search. Prior to Bullhorn, Richard was central to the successful growth and development of the Invenias business globally, from its inception to becoming the market leading provider of executive search software.
Team Lead – Enterprise Solution Consultant, APAC
As GM for Bullhorn’s APAC business, Aaron McIntosh oversees all business functions in the region. He also leads the solutions consulting team locally, ensuring our customers have an incredible experience when transitioning to Bullhorn. He has over 20 years working various roles within the technology industry and joined Bullhorn in 2013 in the London office before relocating back to Australia in 2015. During his tenure, he has helped numerous customers make the move to Bullhorn including Kelly Persol, Ambition, Hudson, and many others. He is passionate about technology and in particular how technology can be used to solve business issues and problems that are inhibiting growth within recruitment businesses.
He has a Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical and Computing) with Honours from Monash University in Melbourne.

As the Senior Vice President of Customer Success, Tamsyn leads Bullhorn’s Services and Customer Success teams. She is responsible for successful delivery of all products and services globally and is committed to creating and maintaining incredible long term customer experiences in the candidate to cash process. Tamsyn has been delivering implementations for over 25 years with companies such as SAP, Ariba, Zuora: specialising in HR, Payroll, Procurement and Quote To Cash capability. She trained as a software engineer after studying Maths, Statistics, and Computing in England.

Executive Vice President of Corporate Development and International
Peter oversees Bullhorn’s international operations outside North America in his role as Executive Vice President of Corporate Development and International. Peter joined Bullhorn in 2009 and was responsible for its highly successful UK launch and continued expansion internationally. Peter has grown the international team to over 100 staff, established Bullhorn as the UK’s market leading recruitment software and has expanded Bullhorn’s reach into EMEA and APAC, achieving a user base of more than 30,000 international users. Prior to taking on the launch of Bullhorn International, Peter spent 20 years working in the recruitment industry and held a number of senior director roles before moving into the technology space.
