Aktion erforderlich: Änderungen an den E-Mail-Richtlinien von Google und Yahoo

Blog_Google und Yahoo

Google and Yahoo recently announced an upcoming change to their bulk email sending policies to, among other things, improve their filtering capabilities for spam, phishing, and the like.

As part of Bullhorn’s commitment to creating a great experience, we are working to ensure our tech stack is compliant with these new guidelines across all of our solutions before they take effect in February 2024. So we wanted to give you an overview of what’s happening and what changes – depending on your Bullhorn solution – your organization may need to make to ensure you’re ready.

What changes are coming to us?

On October 3, both Google and Yahoo announced changes and new processes to ensure a better email experience for everyone. While their email protocols are already powerful, both providers are further tightening the rules around email validation to ensure less spam ends up in the inbox and a safer email experience for everyone.

Starting in February 2024, Google and Yahoo will require bulk senders – those who send more than 5,000 emails per day – to:

  1. authenticate their emails to eliminate loopholes exploited by attackers to threaten email users.
  2. Enable you to easily unsubscribe from commercial emails and process unsubscribe requests within two days.
  3. Adhere to spam rate thresholds to ensure email recipients do not receive unsolicited messages.

These best practices will soon become requirements for email sent to Yahoo and Gmail. If companies do not comply, there is a risk that mass emails will be incorrectly classified as spam.

What do these changes mean for you?

Anyone who sends bulk emails (more than 5,000 per day) is affected by this change, including many Bullhorn customers who send automated emails from our systems, whether for recruiting applicants or for time – and salary information or for customer contacts.

What do you have to do in Bullhorn?

Not all Bullhorn products will be affected (details below), but we want to ensure the change is as seamless as possible. Therefore, the Bullhorn product team handles much of the behind-the-scenes work to ensure your Bullhorn solutions are ready for the changes.

However, if your product is affected, you will need to take some steps with your DNS hosting provider before January 14, 2024 as described in the links below. Otherwise, the delivery of emails you send from Bullhorn will be interrupted.

Please read the articles at the links below to ensure the correct steps are taken and contact Bullhorn Support if you have any further questions.

NOTE: Not all products are affected. Below are details on how to prepare for the products that need your attention. If you use a Salesforce product, Salesforce will contact you for advice.
