Bullhorn CEO Art Papas Elected Chairman of Career Collaborative’s Board of Directors

BOSTON, Mass, March 2, 2015 – Art Papas, founder and CEO of Bullhorn, a provider of customer relationship management (CRM) software, has been voted Chairman of the Board of Directors of Career Collaborative, a not-for-profit organization that helps low-income adults find and keep jobs with career potential. Art first joined the organization’s board in 2013. LaToya Allen, Career Collaborative’s Manager of Career Development, was also promoted to Donor Relations Manager.

Career Collaborative’s mission is to end working-class poverty by helping adults get, and succeed at, life-changing jobs, making Massachusetts and its families stronger. Since its founding in 1997, Career Collaborative has helped more than 1,825 families in the Boston area move toward economic self-sufficiency. In 2011, Bullhorn launched a partnership with Career Collaborative to help individuals secure new, lasting careers in the Boston area. Like Art, all of Bullhorn’s employees volunteer each quarter at charitable organizations as part of the company’s Bullhorn Cares initiative.

“I’m passionate about Career Collaborative’s work because we have an enormous under-employment problem in Boston. 21.6 percent of the city’s population is below the poverty line and while many are motivated to work, they’re stuck in low-paying jobs and can’t make ends meet. And those that do land a better job often lack the skills to keep it,” said Art Papas. “Career Collaborative not only helps its clients find life-changing jobs, it provides the necessary coaching to help them keep, and advance in, these jobs. The opportunity we have to continue expanding our services and client base over the next few years is very exciting and I will use this appointment to help in that growth.”

The relationship between Bullhorn and Career Collaborative spans many years. Art and 40 Bullhorn employees have volunteered as practice interviewers for Career Collaborative clients, and the CEO has set a goal for all employees to volunteer in the near future. He has volunteered as a member of the non-profit’s Leadership Breakfast Committee and Bullhorn has also employed a Career Collaborative program participant since 2012.

Art will be taking the reins from Jerry Jacobs who served as chairman for eight years. Dr. Susan Schiro, founder and President of Career Collaborative said, “Jerry has been a highly effective Chairman since 2008. As Chairman, he increased Board cohesiveness and commitment, enabling Career Collaborative to double the number of clients served while maintaining the quality of our services. He will now become Vice Chairman to assist Art in making this a smooth transition and to continue his legacy of efficient growth. Art is a worthy successor to Jerry: he has been extraordinarily effective in growing Bullhorn and his vision of continued and accelerated growth for Career Collaborative is exciting. I look forward to working more closely with him.”

Career Collaborative has also promoted LaToya Allen to Donor Relations Manager. Susan said, “LaToya is passionate about helping low-income adults become self-supporting. As Manager of Career Development, she and her team helped clients retain their jobs and make career progress. Now she will expand Career Collaborative’s impact by sharing her passion for our work with our donors.”
