How to Use Company (and Recruiter) Data to Get the Most Out of Your Bullhorn ATS

applicant tracking system tips

Anyone who has ever found a coin or bill in a couch cushion knows the joy of getting more than you bargained for. You thought you knew what you were in for when you sat on your couch, but it turns out that you could get even more by knowing where to look.

Your Bullhorn applicant tracking system (ATS) is the same way. It’s the backbone of your staffing operation but chances are that it can do even more. Here are three tips to get even more out of your Bullhorn ATS.

Take Advantage of Your Data

Your ATS is a treasure trove of valuable data. It contains all of your recruiter activity, client and candidate information, and your communication history. Of course, all that data isn’t of much use to you if it’s just sitting there.

Using the Bullhorn’s Standard Reports you can track and analyze your data to learn more about your business and make more informed decisions, without having to build reports from scratch.

Which metrics do staffing professionals consider most important? According to a recent survey of over 1400 staffing professionals, the top three were:

  1. Customer Satisfaction
  2. Fill Rate
  3. Submittal-to-Hire Ratio

Running reports is great, and we highly recommend it, but predictive intelligence can be a real game-changer.  Bullhorn can identify problems for your recruiters and salespeople before they escalate so you can avoid being blindsided by an unhappy candidate or client. Another advantage of Bullhorn’s predictive intelligence is helping your team understand the best time to reach out to candidates and clients by analyzing email activity.

Use it to Redeploy More Workers

Increasing your redeployment rates is one of the easiest and most cost-effective ways to grow your business, but unfortunately, many people aren’t taking full advantage of the talent in their database. Given how easy it is to search LinkedIn or other job boards, people often forget that an ATS can be the best place for finding qualified talent.

For starters, run a search in Bullhorn for candidates with a status of Placed (or something similar) and where the contract end date is before today. Re-engage these candidates and start trying to find them their next position!

If you are using Enterprise Edition and have My Dashboard, add the Starts & Ends card to easily see which upcoming placements are coming to an end. Proactively reach out to these employees/contractors and being the search for their next position.

Upskill Your Recruiters, Using Data

Using Bullhorn ATS to track all of your recruiters’ activities can help you identify areas to  improve more quickly. Is a new recruiter making fewer calls than his or her peers? By examining that recruiter’s activity in Bullhorn, you can pinpoint the areas he or she needs to work on.

Resolving weak spots before they become problem areas will help your recruiters become more productive in less time. This is especially true if you’re looking to ramp up your recruiters in a month or less. Bullhorn increases your chances of getting your recruiters up to speed—and fast—by 57 percent.
